labor day sale weekend

Labor Day Discounts

Special occasions and festivities are always a good reason to give special discounts.

Next week on the first Monday in September, it is Labor Day.

And although this is a typical American and Canadian public holiday, a lot of Chinese stores use this day to give extra high discounts for just a few days.

Let’s dig in!

Labor Day since 1882

Labor day honors the labor movements and the contributions workers made help the well-being of the country. The Unions started this day with parades in New York City in 1882. Just a few years later, in 1886 their was a big fight called the Haymarket Massacre. After this tragedy, the US president Cleveland was afraid this day would become a day for demonstrations and riots. So he made this day public holiday.

So far the history lessons 😉

Which stores offer special discounts on Labor Day?

Let’s start this week with some stores that aren’t mentioned very often here.

TBdress

Labor DayThe first store I like to show is TBdress. This stores is all about….. tadadadada…. Dresses!!! Right. They have categories like: Special Occasion Dresses, Evening Dresses, Prom Dresses, Cocktail Dresses, Homecoming Dresses, Quinceanera Dresses, Formal Dresses, Designer Dresses, Sweet 16, Party Dresses, Ball Gowns, Wedding Dresses, Bridesmaid Dresses, Mother of the Bride Dresses, Flower Girl Dresses.

Well, I guess, if you need a dress for yourself or your partner, this place might have them. A simple dress is around 20 bucks. A wedding dress can be found for 175 dollars.

On Labor Day TBdress gives up to 85% discount and free shipping over $ 89.

Rotita

Labor day rotitaI can’t forget that Rotita was previously called WholeSaleItOnline. Well, from this store I understand why it changed its name. Rotita is a clothing store for women with a small part for men too. It supports free shipping worldwide. And new sign ups get 15% discount.

For LaborDay they offer a 7 dollar discount on purchases over $ 57. That’s also around 12%. If you are new to Rotita, maybe the new sign ups discount is the best to choose.

ModLily

ModLilylaborday-modlily is another fashion store that changed its name. Formally known as MartOfChina. But that’s a long time ago now. ModLily offers cheap fashion clothing for affordable prices.

On Labor Day Modlily offers 15% discount on purchases over $79. That’s an interesting discount. (One more thought, I don’t know the fashion style in your country, but if you live in the Netherlands, don’t buy the onesies (one piece jumpsuits) as shown on the image.)

RoseGal

RoseGallaborday-rosegal is a clothing store for vintage styled clothing. The focus of this store is still vintage although it reshuffled its categories and placed the vintage category more to the right. RoseGal has a bigger focus on fashion now.

I wrote a larger Rosegal review just a few weeks ago.

RoseGal offers a 50% sale for this Labor Day. Remember you can get 8% discount with the exclusive coupon code SBICHINA8!

SheIn

SheInlabor day shein… Remember I said that a lot a stores change their names? So did SheIn, formally known as the store called SheInside.

SheIn is a store that always has a lot of discount. New sign ups get a 30% discount. Great fashion for great prices.

On Labor Day SheIn offers up to 80% off on a lot of products!

And all those other stores?

Sure there are plenty more stores that offer special prices on Labor Day. Fact is that stores for electronic equipment, gadgets and the more toys for boys stores, do not have larger discounts. The margins for these stores are lower and these products are not as volatile as fashion. You don’t have a different smart phone in the Winter because it is freezing…

expending your possibilities

Expending your possibilities

Today I like to challenge you.

It’s not about throwing a bucket with ice water over your head.
Or doing something embarrassing. Nothing from that.

The challenge is about giving back and teaching.

I grew up with a faith that you need to pay first.
You only give after you got paid and if you don’t get paid, you don’t give…

This changed a few years ago. I am fortunate I met many people who believe in giving first. If you give first, you will get it back someday. And this can be in any form. It doesn’t have to be money and it doesn’t have to be from the same person.

Giving first was the base for creating StartBuyingInChina.com. Continue reading Expending your possibilities

google vs xiaomi

Xiaomi beats Google?

A few months ago I hadn’t heard from them.

Now they seem to become a threat to Google.

This company just started and is number 3 in the world of smartphones, just after Samsung and Apple!

And do you know its name?

Xiaomi is conquering the world!

Xiaomi released its first smartphone in August 2011. Since then they have become the number one smartphone seller in China with over 60 million phones in 2014. The company has a value of 46 billion USD and its CEO is Lei Jun, China’s 23rd richest person according to Forbes.

This week the Information’s Amir Efrati stated that several Android Employees at Google warned for the possible thread of Xiaomi to Google. Xiaomi encourages Android phones owners to use the Xiaomi apps instead of Googles pre-installed apps. Xiaomi users are surpassing the Google app store, one of the biggest money machines from Google.

Xiaomi is currently focusing on the Chinese and Asian market. When Xiaomi enters the western market Efrati reports this could spell trouble to Google. Google will lose its positions for its own apps on prominent places on Android phones. Google benefit from these positions because Android is open source. These spots generate traffic and income.

According to the Data from Strategy Analytics published by Bloomberg in 2013, Samsung actually makes more money from Android than Google does.

Google’s apps and services however are featured on every Android phone. Users are being hooked into Google apps like Google Search and Gmail.

The Ultimate Buyers Guide for Chinese Smartphones
