Today I like to challenge you.
It’s not about throwing a bucket with ice water over your head.
Or doing something embarrassing. Nothing from that.
The challenge is about giving back and teaching.
I grew up with a faith that you need to pay first.
You only give after you got paid and if you don’t get paid, you don’t give…
This changed a few years ago. I am fortunate I met many people who believe in giving first. If you give first, you will get it back someday. And this can be in any form. It doesn’t have to be money and it doesn’t have to be from the same person.
Giving first was the base for creating StartBuyingInChina.com.
How I just forgot about you
My mission with StartBuyingInChina.com is to help its readers to evolve by expanding their opportunities. To teach them how to trade with foreign countries, how to find new possibilities and how to cope with risks. As respect is the key to a better world. By utilizing your full potential, self-esteem will grow and therefore the foundation of mutual respect. My drive is to help people to grow their inner potential.
Many readers from StartBuyingInChina.com make money with the products they import from China. Other readers want to start building a business with products from China. That’s fantastic. The opportunities are huge. And maybe you are one of them!
But how do you know what your clients truly want?
The answer is simple: Ask them…
Maybe the costly fault an entrepreneur can make, is assuming to know what your customers want.
Although I know this for years, this happened to me last week again. I assumed and offered you an eBook without asking you in advance. The results didn’t match my expectations. Because I assumed and I forgot about you…
This week I sent a small survey. The responses were great. I got many great and helpful replies. I got really caring comments on my personal email. Thank you so much for your responses and comments. Your responses really helps me to improve StartBuyingInChina.com.
This brings me to the best advice I can give you today, if you do or plan to buy stuff from China and plan to resell it:
Don’t assume you know what your audience wants. Ask them…
Take enough time to investigate your audience’s needs, before you start. Anticipate and respond to them. Don’t act on your own thoughts of what you might think. Importing stuff from China if you are not able to resell it, it can be a costly experience!
The opportunity, the challenge!
To fulfill my mission with StartBuyingInChina.com, to help you to evolve by expanding your opportunities, we must offer more what you want.
In last week’s survey, there was a question what you would like to find on StartBuyingInChina.com. The top 5 responses are:
1) Reviewing Chinese shops
2) Where to find cheap products XYZ
3) Creating tutorials about safe shopping
4) User Forum to exchange experiences
5) Product reviews
Most readers are interested in more specific info about separate Chinese stores, products reviews and prices. With hundreds of Chinese stores, with millions of products, this is much more than one man can handle. My primary focus is creating tutorials about safe shopping.
To help as much people as possible on how to trade with China, how to find new possibilities and how to cope with risks, you and must work together.
We need to become an active community. Or better we need to become THE community for importing from China.
My question to you is:
Do you want to contribute and help our community to evolve? Do you want to help your fellow readers to grow and teach them with your knowledge and experiences?
Become a guest blogger
Whether you are a blogger or not. I’m sure you have experiences you can share when it comes to buying from China. For example:
- Do you have a favorite Chinese store you frequently buy at? Would you like to write and in depth review about this store and share it here? It can be your guest post!
- Did you search for a specific products and found the best shop with the best prices for this? Do you mind sharing this with us?
- Are you satisfied with the products you bought recently? Do you like to write an unpacking review, or write about the quality, your shopping experience?
I like to challenge you. If you are a blogger about fashion, electronics, gadgets or if you are an entrepreneur who buys stuff from China to resell, or if you just like to post on forums, contact us. Please send us an email with the topic, with your ideas and how you would like to contribute. Hopefully we can welcome you as a team member?
What’s in it for you?
- You grow your own possibilities.
- You contribute by helping other people. It’s feel great to help other people to evolve and learn!
- Your guest post can help to grow your business or blog too.
- You can promote your blog or site in the guest post (Yes, you can post a back-link).
If you don’t know yet what to write about, but you want to contribute, just contact us and let’s figure something out together.
Become a moderator
The 4th suggestion from the list above is to create a user forum. I love the idea. It’s on my list since the day that I started StartBuyingInChina.com. But I’m hesitating with this one. Creating a forum that has no daily action will bleed to death. See this forum for example.
Our forum needs moderators from day one, who will help to keep the forum alive.
- Are you willing to be a moderator who can come up with topics and who keep the discussions on topic on a daily base, when we start a forum?
If you like to contribute as an active moderator, please send an email to: support@startbuyinginchina.com
But what if….. you don’t want to contribute actively?
That’s totally fine. We love our readers! Without the readers StartBuyingInChina.com wouldn’t exist.
If we can help you to grow, to evolve and to become a safe and confident China buyer, our mission will succeed. Because we know that one-day you will help other people too with your knowledge. You will help your friends to grow. Maybe here, maybe somewhere else.
Remember, StartBuyingInChina.com likes to give you what you really want. That is why it is very important if you answer the following question in the comment box below:
- If there is one thing you would like to know about buying from China, what would it be? If it is up to you: What would be our next blog post?
This is it, this blog post is longer than normal. I hope you got some insight in my motivation for StartBuyingInChina.com. And I truly hope I can welcome you as a guest writer or team member. This would be wonderful to our community.
I hope to read your email or comments soon. I hope we can build this community together. And let’s start with getting this blog in the world. Please share this blog post with your friends by using the share buttons on the side.

Thanks for the information, they are very valuable.
Honestly I think it should be as simple as searching for China Stores to avoid. Then with a simple click have up-to-date alphabetized lists broken down into specific categories with just a numerical reference representing the number or complaints a particular store got for ‘never received merchandise/no refund’ and another category for “merchandise damaged/no refund” and on the flip side I would like to be able to pull up the same info on specific stores to shop in China without having to hunt and wade through all the individual experiences in detail. Maybe there is something like this already in place and if so could someone please share!! Thanks so much!
I’d like to help you out ofcourse! Count me in :). I order quite some stuff from China from shoes to gadgets to electronics.
Hi Bastiaan you can count me in. i like to write about dealextreme. You got a pm too.
